Overview of Paths and Profiles
Within every RoastPATH account, there are two collections of Roast Curves.
The Profiles list is a history of all the roasts you have recorded with the RoastPATH Roasting App, and saved to the RostPATH Portal. A Profile is the complete data log of your roast, including time and temperature readings for all your sensors. Fan Fuel and Drum readings may also be included depending on your roaster capabilities. A roast Profile also includes date and time of the roast, person who roasted, machine, coffee and batch size. Additional information can be added to the Profile after the roast is complete and may include information used for quality control and inventory tracking, such as color readings and weight loss.
The Path Library is a collection of roast curves used as a reference library. The Path Library is a place for you to create a curated list of roast curves you plan to use as a template or reference inside the RoastPATH Roasting App. Once added to your library, you can select the Path to follow on your next roast.
The Path Library may include copies of roasts you recorded, by converting one of your Profiles into a Path. In addition, the Path Library is where you can collect roast profiles you bring into your roastery from outside sources or tools. For example, you may receive an .rpath or an .alog file from a friend. Perhaps you are seeking advice on how to roast a green you have never roasted before, and you start with someone else's roast curve. Uploading these files to your Path Library is a convenient place to store and organize these outside roast curves, while keeping them separate from the Profiles you recorded on your machine. You may also add outside roast curves to use as a reference from the RoastPATH Community Profile Library. Many RoastPATH users have made copies of their favorite profiles public, which you can import into your Path Library. Finally, you may add Paths to your Path Library by generating a roast curve based on extensive data analysis and data modelling tools like Path Intelligence™.
At a glance, Profiles and Paths look very similar. Both can be used as a roast reference underlay in the RoastPATH Roasting App. However Profiles are your roasting history. This is where you will focus on reviewing roast curves for quality control and coffee production. The Path Library is where you can organize all your roasts curves, from a variety of sources, whose only purpose is to serve as a reference Path to follow in a future roast.
