Installing RoastPATH on macOS
Removing a Previous Version
Before installing the new version, you must remove any existing version of RoastPATH:
- Open Finder and navigate to your Applications folder (usually listed under "Favorites" in the sidebar).
- Locate the current version of RoastPATH.
- Drag it to the Trash, or right-click (two-finger tap) and select Move to Trash.
- To ensure macOS fully unregisters the old version, consider emptying the Trash.
Downloading the App
To install RoastPATH on your Mac, open the Mac tab on the Downloads page and click the Download button to get the latest version. The file will appear in your Downloads folder as a .zip archive.
Depending on your system settings, macOS may automatically extract the app from the zip file. If not, simply open the zip file to reveal the RoastPATH Roasting App. This file must be moved to your Application folder using Finder (see Removing a Previous Version for help on opening the Application Folder).
Why the Applications Folder Matters
macOS uses the Applications folder to register apps for system-level actions. This means:
- Double-clicking .rpath files
- Using Launch App buttons from the RoastPATH Portal
…will only work if the app is located in the Applications folder. Occasionally, macOS may retain links to older versions of the app, so emptying the Trash ensures the new version is properly recognized.
Accessing Older Versions
If you're experiencing compatibility issues or need to revert to a previous release:
- Go to the Downloads page.
- Expand the Show Other Releases toggle to view additional versions.
- Download the version you prefer.
While we recommend installing the latest release (listed at the top), RoastPATH Technical Support may suggest trying an earlier version to troubleshoot update-related problems.
Installing RoastPATH on Windows
Recommended Method: Microsoft Store
The easiest way to install RoastPATH is through the Microsoft Store. Open the Store on your computer, search for RoastPATH, and click Install. You can also visit the Downloads page and click the Download from Windows Store button to open the app listing directly.
Alternate Method: Manual Download
If you prefer not to use the Microsoft Store or need access to an earlier version, go to the Downloads page and expand the Show Other Releases toggle. This will reveal additional versions of the app. While we recommend installing the latest release (listed at the top), older versions may be useful if you're experiencing compatibility issues. RoastPATH Technical Support may also suggest trying an earlier version when troubleshooting update-related problems.
Reinstalling or Switching Versions
When installing a version from the Downloads page—especially if you're switching between the Store version and a manual download—we recommend uninstalling any previous version first. This is particularly important if you're reverting to an older release.
To uninstall RoastPATH, open the Windows Start Menu, locate the app in the application list, right-click it, and select Uninstall.
Installing from a ZIP File
Manual downloads are provided as .zip files. After downloading, open the zip archive and locate the Windows Installer file .msix. Some systems allow you to run the installer directly from the zip; others may require you to extract the contents first. Double-clicking the installer will begin the installation process, and the app will appear in your Windows Applications menu once complete.
Preview Releases
The download options may include "Preview" releases. These are releases that have not been pushed to the Windows Store yet and should be considered "beta" releases. For those who want to see the latest and greatest features before anyone else, installing a "Preview" release will give you an early look at new features, but are applications not fully tested or complete. RoastPATH will occasionally make preview releases to get early feedback from users.
