First, make sure you have installed the RoastPATH App on to your device. If you are unsure, see the article Install the App for more information. Also, double check you have followed the instructions in the articles Add your Roaster & Connecting RoastPATH & your Roaster.
To troubleshoot a connection for Windows:
- Open Device Manager on your laptop.
- Open the Ports (COM) dropdown in Device Manager.
- Connect the Roaster to the computer using a USB-A to USB-A cable, this should update the Device Manager. There should be a new COM port under the Ports (COM) dropdown, note the new COM port’s number.
- In the RoastPATH App, click the 3 dots in the upper left to open the roaster connection pop-up.
- Select the Roaster, set connection mode to USB. Under the Com Port dropdown select the COM# which appeared in the Device Manager when the Roaster and Computer were connected.
- Hit the reload icon next to the Roaster dropdown.
Note: If the Port does not appear or the connection is still not established you may need to switch out of S mode and/or do a Windows Update. For information about how to switch out of S mode, see the link below.
Note: If the Port still does not appear you may need to install a driver linked below and then repeat the above process.
To troubleshoot a connection for Mac:
- Click the Apple icon.
- Click About This Mac.
- Click More Info or System Report.
- Under the heading called Ports or USB, confirm that your USB device is listed and that there isn't an error. It should be named FT232 or 'Serial to USB'.
- In the RoastPATH App, click the 3 dots in the upper left to open the roaster connection pop-up.
- Select the Roaster, set connection mode to USB. Under the Com Port dropdown select the device which appeared in the System Report in step 4 when the Roaster and Computer were connected.
- Hit the reload icon next to the Roaster dropdown.
Note: If your computer does not have any USB-A ports, use a USB-A to USB-A cable and a USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect your machine and laptop for best results.
Note: If the Port does not appear or the connection is still not established you may need to install a driver linked below and then repeat the above process.
