While Bluetooth support for the macOS version of RoastPATH is currently limited, you can establish and maintain a reliable connection by following the configuration and sequence guidelines below.
Prerequisite: Ensure your roaster has a physical Bluetooth module installed and that you are running the latest version of the RoastPATH app for macOS.
1. Initial Connection Setup
To avoid errors, please follow these steps in the exact order listed:
Pair the Roaster to macOS: Open the Bluetooth settings on your Mac and connect to your roaster from the available devices list.
Launch RoastPATH: Open the RoastPATH application.
Configure the COM Port: Open the connection pop-up menu (as outlined in the Connecting RoastPATH & Your Roaster guide) and select the COM port designated as
tty(note: specific naming is subject to change).
2. Best Practices for Connection Stability
Because the order of operations is critical to maintaining a healthy Bluetooth connection, always adhere to the following sequence when starting or ending a roasting session:
When Powering Down: Always close the RoastPATH app completely before turning off your roaster. Note: Simply closing your MacBook lid puts the computer to sleep but does not close the app, which can cause connection drops.
When Powering Up: Always turn your roaster on before opening the RoastPATH app.
Troubleshooting: Resolving Connection Errors
If the devices are powered on/off out of sequence, you may experience connection issues. To reset and restore the connection, use the following steps:
Close the App & Power On: Ensure the RoastPATH app is completely closed and your roaster is powered on.
Forget the Device: Open Bluetooth settings on your Mac. Click the "i" (Information) icon next to your roaster's name (typically formatted as the roaster name followed by its serial number) and select "Forget This Device."
Re-Pair: Refresh your Mac's Bluetooth device list. Once the roaster reappears, click to connect/pair it again.
Reconnect in RoastPATH: Open the RoastPATH app, verify that your machine configuration and COM port are correct, and establish the connection.
